The Merry Christmas Issaquah emergency aid fund has closed its annual fund drive with $52,977 in donations. The goal was $50,000.“The people of Issaquah always come through,” said Marilyn Taylor, president of Issaquah Church and Community Services, the nonprofit organization that uses the money to assist local families.

Two weeks ago, the fund was still 30 percent behind its goal, but the checks kept coming. The 203 donations set a new record for the number of donors, although the fund’s highest donations were in 2008, totaling $57,028.

Donations can be made directly to ICCS, P.O. Box 669, Issaquah, WA 98027.

ICCS is also seeking volunteers willing to meet with clients. Call 391-0137.
