James Farnsworth

James H. Farnsworth, of Providence Point, Issaquah, died Jan. 20, 2010. He was 88.Services will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 6, at the Issaquah Valley Senior Center.

James was born April 22, 1921, in Everett, to Lester M. and Mary A. Farnsworth. He was raised in Everett.

James was stationed in Pennsylvania and Ohio during World War II, and then settled in the Green Lake area of Seattle until 1994, when he and his wife Rozella retired to Providence Point.

He attended Everett High School, graduating in 1939, and then attended the University of Washington earning a Bachelor of Science in 1943 and his master’s from the University of Pittsburgh in 1946; both degrees were in chemical engineering.

He achieved the rank of captain in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Bellevue First Congregational Church, active with his bridge group and was a board member of the Issaquah Valley Senior Center.

James was married to his wife Rozella for 65 years.

He is survived by three daughters, Carol Sakata, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Shirley Farnsworth, of Covington, and Joanne Lee, of Ravensdale; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rozella, who died Nov. 3, 2009.

Memorial donations may be made to the Issaquah Valley Senior Center Endowment Fund.
