I've been an Issaquah resident for over 30 years so the XXX is a familiar landmark. I've eaten there a number of times and while I don't think I'd take a date there if I was about to promote marriage, I have to admit I'm very fond of the place.

The food is pretty good as far as i'm concerned, but they can sometimes go over the top with the portion sizes, especially some of the burgers. At least there's a Virginia Mason satellite clinic next door ad a Swedish Emergency room just down the street for those cardiac patients who may need their services.

I've read a few reviews and don't disagree with the diversity of opinions and experiences. What I do want to tell people reading this is that this has got to be one of the few places around that hosts a car show nearly every weekend. Check their website for a schedule. It's a perfect venue.

Secondly, the owner, Jose, is a very friendly and generous guy. I recall one informal and impromptu gathering of a few friends with Corvettes and we agreed to meet at the XXX to begin an early morning tour. Even though the XXX wasn't open, Jose opened the doors for us, made us coffee (for free) and shared with us his stories and his mission for the place.

I don't think many people know that much of the proceeds from the weekly car events are given by Jose and his XXX to charity.

It may not be Canlis or The Metropolitan Grill, but it's the best place for a bunch of car guys - especially those, like me, who still seem to have a foot stuck back in the 60's. I adore this place....
