The Rotary Club of Issaquah honored the following seniors as its students of the month for January.Emily Bradford

-School: Liberty High School

-Category honored: Vocational

-Parents: Carolyn and Jim Bradford

-Academics: Certificate of Excellence in Teaching Academy, Honor Roll, Athlete Scholar Award

-Athletics: Liberty Drill Team officer for three years, lettered last three years

-Hobbies: Traveling, dancing, spending time with family and friends, drill

-Future goals: Western Washington University or Central Washington University; major in elementary education; get teaching degree; dream job teaching in the Issaquah School District

Makenna Converse

-School: Tiger Mountain Community High School

-Category honored: Vocational

-Parent: Arthur Converse

-Academics: Graduating from Evergreen Beauty College business school of the year

-Scholastic activities: Cosmetology school, Evergreen College

-Outside school affiliations: Hopelink hygiene drive chair

-Hobbies: Her dog, fashion, women’s body sculpting

-Future goals: Vidal Sassoon Academy in London, England; cosmetologist, Sassoon cut specialist

Caitlin Doxsie

-School: Issaquah High School

-Category honored: Vocational

-Parents: Doug and Pam Doxsie

-Academics: Editor of IHS IT Magazine, quarterly distinguished recognition awards

-Athletics: Three-year varsity letterman and three-year scholar athlete, IHS golf team

-Activities: Vice president of membership IHS National Honor Society Key Club 2008, journalism, Advanced Placement U.S. History, AP English, AP Government, National Honor Society, IHS drill and pom team

-Outside school affiliations: Eleven years in Girl Scouts

-Future goals: Attend four-year university; pursue career in communications or education

Carter Murch

-School: Liberty High School

-Category honored: Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps

-Parents: Kevin and Cheri Murch

-Academics: Honor Society, Advanced Placement scholar, Bronze Medal for National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Veterans of Foreign Wars Medal Award, LHS Cadet Commander Excellence recognition

-Athletics: Lettered in swimming, scholar athlete award, Northwest Drill and Rifle Conference fourth place physical fitness

-Outside school affiliations: Issaquah Youth Advisory Board, Boy Scouts of America, King County Search and Rescue, LDS Church

-Activities: Eagle Scout, scuba certified, King County Sheriff’s Office advanced helicopter/hoist, Boy Scouts of America climbing instructor certified

-Hobbies: Weight lifting, rock climbing, backpacking, scuba diving

-Future goals: Naval Academy or Texas A&M; study degree in ocean engineering; pursue career as Navy SEAL; after military, solve engineering problems; ultimately design and build boats

Alex Nelson

-School: Issaquah High School

-Category honored: Leadership/citizenship

-Parents: Janet and Curt Nelson

-Academics: National Honor Society member, two special recognition awards in debate

-Athletics: cross country captain, seven varsity letters, eight scholar athlete awards

-Activities: Athletes for Kids, ASB secretary, student senate secretary, student traffic court clerk, LINK Leader

-Hobbies: Running, hiking, reading, waterskiing and snowboarding

-Future goals: University of San Diego or University of Washington; grad school; clinical psychologist with hopes of having her own practice

Connor Pierce

-School: Tiger Mountain Community High School

-Category honored: Vocational

-Parents: John and Karen Pierce

-Academic/other achievements: Student of the week, student of the month, first place in computer science, second place PALMA team, first service rifle, master class long range expert rifle

-Activities: Physics, geometry, ballistics

-Hobbies: Competitive shooting, building computers

-Outside school activities: NRA, Washington State Rifle & Pistol, Washington Army National Guard

-Future goals: Obtain a certification in gunsmithing; EMT certification; gunsmith; health care specialist; computer repair

Allie Wilke

-School: Tiger Mountain Community High School

-Parent: Dori Wilke

-Academic achievements: Graduating; prom princess; planned prom, Kick Butts Day, Thanksgiving Feast, fundraisers and more; inspiration to other students to stay with it

-Hobbies: Photography, hanging with friends

-Future goals: Obtain business management degree at college; follow through on longtime dream of owning her own business
