Crews plan to alternate one-way traffic along state Route 900 from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, weather permitting. Workers will pave the road between Newport Way Northwest and Tibbetts Creek Bridge as a yearslong widening project nears completion.

State Department of Transportation officials said crews will work to reduce nighttime noise during the unavoidably noisy paving. Workers will complete the noisiest work first, and use equipment and vehicles with noise-control features if possible, officials added.

Call the project office at 206-521-5624 with noise complaints on weekdays from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Expect several more weeks of lane closures as workers complete the $33.9 million project. Lanes could open within the next few weeks; paving and striping work could be completed in April.

Crews widened the road from Newport Way Northwest to the vicinity of Northwest Talus Drive and Southeast 82nd Street. Narrow shoulders bracketed the old, single-lane roadway. Workers added a lane in each direction and a left-turn lane in the center of the roadway, as well as a bike lane and a raised sidewalk on the west side of the road.
