Lan Chyi Chen, of Issaquah, died Feb. 26, 2010, at Overlake Hospital Medical Center, Bellevue. She was 53.A service will be held at 1 p.m., March 13 at Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lan Chen was born Jan. 25, 1957, in Keelung, Taiwan, the daughter of Kuo Chien Lan and Chi Shu Ai Lan. She was raised in Taipei, Taiwan, where she attended local schools. Following primary schooling, Lan continued her education at Ming-Chung University, Taiwan, where she earned her bachelor’s degree.

On Oct. 25, 1982, Lan Chen married David Tzyy-Yi Chen in Taipei. They moved to Gainesville, Fla., in 1984. In 1986, they moved to Raleigh, N.C, where David continued his studies at North Carolina State University. In 1987, they moved to the Bay Area of California, where they started a family. In addition to her work at home, Lan worked as a sales manager in the computer hardware industry.

In 1990, Lan gave up her career so her family could move together to Issaquah. Following a few short jobs, she found employment as an airline ticketing administrator. She worked until 2006, when her cancer would no longer allow her to work.

In her leisure time, Lan enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. A great planner and motivator, she was dedicated to the mission of lovingly guiding her family to succeed. A loving and energetic wife, mother, daughter and friend, she is deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband David Tzyy-Yi Chen, son Rick Chen and daughter Kelley Chen, all of Issaquah; her parents, Kuo Chien Lan and Chi Shu Ai Lan, of Taiwan; two brothers; a sister; and a host of extended family members and friends. Lan Chen was preceded in death by her brother.
