Issaquah High School Eagles belt Bothell

The Issaquah High School baseball team pounded out 12 hits April 12 as the Eagles belted visiting Bothell 11-4 in a 4A KingCo Conference game.

Grant Gellatly, Mike Paulson and Ben Rosellini each had two hits for Issaquah. Paulson, Spencer Rogers, Devin O’Donnell and Conner Young each drove in two runs for the Eagles, who are 10-2 on the season.

Winning pitcher Shane Yarnell, 5-0, struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter.

The Eagles are 6-2 in league play, a game out of first place in the Crest Division.

In other action, Skyline walloped Roosevelt 14-1. Anthony DeMatteo went 4-for-4 for Skyline. Sean Penberthy had three hits and drove in two runs for the Spartans. Aaron Caditz and Mikey Smith each knocked in two runs.

Winning pitcher Conner Lawhead struck out seven.

In the 3A/2A KingCo Conference, Liberty outlasted Interlake 8-7 to remain in a tie with Mercer Island for first place.

Patriots wallop Mercer Island

The Liberty High School fastpitch team scored eight runs in the first inning and went on to wallop visiting Mercer Island 20-0 April 12 in a 3A/2A KingCo Conference contest.

Alexis Court had three hits, one a home run, for the Patriots. Savannah Herrera had three hits and drove in three runs, and pitcher Joshilynn Wolff had three hits. Wolff struck out 11 batters and didn’t allow a hit in the five-inning contest.

In the 4A KingCo Conference, Skyline whipped Newport 9-0 and Issaquah topped Eastlake 1-0.

Pitcher Lauren Richards struck out 13 and allowed just one hit in Skyline’s victory against Newport. Lauren Wolfe had three hits and drove in five runs for Skyline. Teammate Mickey Dunn-Blad had four hits.

Issaquah pitcher Mikenzie Voves held Eastlake to two hits and had eight strikeouts. Amanda Marques drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Issaquah golfers blitz Garfield

Lauren Merdiyan shot a 3-over-par 39 April 12 as she led the Issaquah High School girls team to a 224-322 victory against Garfield at the Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course.

Katherine Yoon shot a 45 and Ellin Skaardal had a 46 for Issaquah.
