Liberty, Issaquah track teams run to victory

The boys and girls track teams for Liberty and Issaquah high schools won their KingCo Conference meets Thursday.

Joshua Gordon had three first places as he led the Liberty boys past Interlake 91-55. Gordon won the 200 meters in 23.7 seconds, went 6-feet to win the high jump, and leaped 20 feet, 6 1/4 inches to take the long jump.

Peter Stacy, Devin Bennett and Troy Solly each won two events for Liberty. Stacy captured the javelin and the discus. Bennett won the 400 and the triple jump. Solly won the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.

The Liberty girls defeated Interlake 86-63. Elizabeth Ryker won the 100 and ran on Liberty’s winning 400 and 1,600 relays. Hannah Blue had a personal best in wininng the long jump at 15-6 1/2.

Josh Martyn won the 300 hurdles and Jonathan Martyn captured the shot put as they helped the Issaquah boys down Redmond 85-60.

In the girls meet, Haley Jacobson had two first places as she sparked Issaquah to a 80.5-69.5 victory against Redmond. Jacobson won the 100 and the 200. She also anchored Issaquah’s winning 800 relay.

Kelley Chen won the discus and the javelin for Issaquah.

Issaquah Eagles fly by Sammamish

Lauren Merdinyan shot a 2-over-par 38 to take medalist honors Thursday and led the Issaquah High School girls golf team to a 257-281 victory against Sammamish High School at the Bellevue Municipal Golf Course.

Issaquah netters top Skyline girls

The Issaquah High School girls tennis team captured three of the four singles matches Thursday en route to a 5-2 victory against Skyline High School.

Sam Garrard and Mika Asaba, of Issaquah, won the No. 1 doubles match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Molly Knutson and Alyson Opitz.

    Issaquah High Scool Freshman Lauren Bruner finished 1st in the 100m hurdles and the 300m hurdles (personal records for both) and was also on the winning 4×400 relay team.
