Spartans fastpitch wins two of three last week

The Skyline High School fastpitch won two of three 4A KingCo Conference games last week to take over first place in the Crest Division standings.

Skyline belted Lake Washington 13-4 April 19, held off Redmond 11-9 April 22 and lost to Bothell 4-1 April 23.

In the victory against Lake Washington, Skyline pitcher Lauren Richards had nine strikeouts. Anna Kanyer had four hits and Jillian Windsor two hits for the Spartans.

Against Redmond, Skyline scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to pull away to an 11-8 lead. Lindsey Nicholson had four hits and Kanyer had three hits and three RBIs. Mickey Dunn-Blad contributed three hits and four RBIs for Skyline. Richards picked up the victory, raising her record to 6-0.

One of the best pitching performances of the week came from Issaquah senior Mikenzie Voves, who blanked Roosevelt 2-0 April 19. Voves had 15 strikeouts and held Roosevelt to four hits.

Issaquah golfers top Mount Si

Elin Skaardal shot a 44 April 19 as she led the Issaquah High School girls golf team to a 242-293 victory against Mount Si at the Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course.

Lauren Merdinyan and Serena Lertkanthan each had 48s for Issaquah.

Ashley Young shot a 43 April 22 to lead Skyline to a 252-321 victory against Garfield at Seattleā€™s Jefferson Park.

Issaquah boys lacrosse team wins twice

The Issaquah High School boys lacrosse club won two Washington State League Division 1 games last week.

Issaquah topped host Bainbridge 5-2 April 23 in a defensive battle. Todd Jones led Issaquah with three goals.

On April 21, Issaquah downed visiting Puyallup 11-7. Issaquah built up a 9-3 lead after two quarters. Jones had three goals, Ben Director and Kevin Powers each had two goals for Issaquah.

Skyline edged Curtis 11-10 April 21. Charlie Engel had three goals to lead Skyline.

Issaquah District girls victorious

The Issaquah District girls lacrosse team walloped Snohomish 20-7 April 23 in a Washington State League Division II contest.

Katie Mincin scored six goals and had two assists to lead Issaquah. Brittany Hogan added four goals and two assists, and Haley Mincin had four goals and three assists for Issaquah.
