Salmon Days team releases 2010 theme, logo

Salmon Days Festival organizers adore puns, and the theme for the 2010 nods to dry land with a bit of wordplay: “Something up our leaves!”
The team behind the four-decade-old festival unveiled the theme April 23. The wordplay and accompanying logo — rendered in earthy greens and eye-popping reds — will appear on festival signs, artwork and merchandise.
Salmon Days returns for its 41st year Oct. 2-3.
Like she has for the past 16 festivals, Issaquah designer Robin Dale Spicer created the theme and logo.
Robin Kelley, festivals director at the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce and the chief Salmon Days organizer, said the theme goes “straight for the fun factor, along with the elements of surprise and discovery that make Salmon Days such a distinctive and well-attended event for people and fish of all ages.”
Salmon Days garnered eight awards — including the top festival honor in the state — from the Washington Festivals and Events Association last month.
Organizers emphasized the long history of Salmon Days with the 2009 theme — “Celebrating 40 Years of Great Returns. Still fresh. Still fun. Still free.” More than 180,000 people attended the festival during a sunny October weekend.
