First-place Eagles down Skyline baseball team

NEW — 10:10 a.m. April 29, 2010

Mike Paulson’s pitching and hitting Wednesday carried the Issaquah High School baseball team to a 6-2 4A KingCo Conference victory against rival Skyline at Skyline.

Paulson hurled a complete game and struck out six. He also had two hits.

Issaquah struck early, tallying five runs in the first inning.

Ben Rosellini drove in two runs for Issaquah, which boosted its Crest Division-leading record to 11-3. The Eagles play at 4 p.m. Friday at Newport, then conclude the regular season at 3:45 p.m. May 4 against Redmond.

Skyline, 7-7, scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Sean Penberthy had two hits for Skyline

In other action, it was Bothell 5, Lake Washington 3; and Inglemoor 10, Woodinville 2.

Liberty softball team belts Mercer Island

The Liberty High School softball team erupted for nine runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 19-0 3A/2A KingCo Conference triumph Wednesday against host Mercer Island.

Winning pitcher Denise Blohowiak allowed two hits and struck out eight. She also banged out two hits. Lindsey Linden also had two hits for Liberty.

In the 4A KingCo Conference, Issaquah lost to Inglemoor 4-1. Christian McKone accounted for Issaquah’s run with a home run.
