Issaquah High School track teams sweep Newport

The Issaquah High School girls and boys track teams both defeated visiting Newport on Thursday in a KingCo Conference meet.
The Issaquah boys won 88-57. Kyle Farmer won the 100 and 200 meters for Issaquah. He also ran on the Eagles’ winning 400 relay. Other Issaquah first places came from Chris Brasino in the 800, Isaac Robinson in the 1,600, Turner Wiley in the 3,200, Alexander Farmer in the 110 hurdles and Jeremiah Odom in the pole vault.
The Issaquah girls defeated Newport 91-59. Haley Jacobson won the 100 and 200. She also ran on the Eagles’ winning 400 and 800 relays. Other Issaquah first places came from Nicole Migotsky in the 800, Jocelyn Eng in the 3,200, Lauren Bruner in the 300 hurdles, Kelley Chen in the javelin and Eva Perry in the pole vault. Perry went 11 feet, 5 inches to break the school record she set last week.
In other action, Skyline and Liberty teams also swept their opponents.
The Skyline boys defeated Sammamish 110-25. Kasen Williams won the 200 and the long jump for Skyline.
The Skyline girls also won easily, defeating Sammamish 120-18. Haley Ziegler won the shot put and the discus for Skyline. Teammate Lindsay Coutts won the high jump and long jump.
Peter Stacy came out throwing as the Liberty boys downed Eastlake 92-52. Stacy won the shot put with a throw of 49-4. He captured the discus with a throw of 145-6 and took the javelin with a throw of 163-5. Joshua Gordon captured the high jump and long jump, and Troy Solly took the 110 and 300 hurdles for Liberty.
The Liberty girls defeated Eastlake 49-29. Emily Pestl-Dimmitt had a big afternoon for the Patriots by capturing the high jump, 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.
All three schools will be action Saturday. The boys teams will compete in the Shoreline Invitational while the girls teams will be at the Lake Washington Invitational.
Liberty High School golfers swing by Sammamish
Alex Duvall shot a 42 on Thursday as she led the Liberty High School girls golf team to a 260-290 KingCo Conference victory against Sammamish at the Maplewood Golf Course.
Krysta Dawson and Rachel Werner each had 51s for the Patriots.
Skyline High School netters down Mount Si
The Skyline High School girls tennis team captured the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches Thursday en route to a 6-1 KingCo Conference victory against Mount Si.
Alisa Van Grunsven, of Skyline, defeated Shelby Thomas 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match. Molly Knutson and Alyson Opitz teamed to take the No. 1 doubles with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Michelle Whins and Natalie Knoetgen.
