Girl Scout Troop 42738
Fourth-grade Grand Ridge Elementary School students from Girl Scout Troop 42738 served up a hot meal to those in need April 2.
The girls served the meals as volunteers at the Issaquah Valley Community Services dinner at Eastside Fire & Rescue Station 71.
The girls who volunteered were Erica Siefkes, Ellie O’Neill, Alaina Margarella, Paige Wilson, Claire Siefkes, Julia Donohue and Chloe Sullivan, as well as Adina Weiss and Caroline O’Neill, older sisters from other troops.
Liberty High School DECA
Liberty High School students Murphey Ransier, Alex Faulkner, Amelia Davis, Garrett Timm, Lisa Perry, Taylor Quintana, Braden Timm and Taylor Newberry have qualified for the national DECA competition.
DECA is a business management and marketing class and club in schools throughout the nation. The students will head to Louisville, Ky., to face off against other students at the national conference.
Liberty High School culinary students
Congratulations Marissa Harrell, Michelle DiMaggio, Erik McAskill, Jessica Warren, Danielle Miller, Anderson Tran and Danyelle Loucks, who competed as part of the school’s culinary team in the regional ProStart competition.
The teams held their own with succulent dishes and knowledge of everything related to the restaurant industry in the competition.
Skyline High School Japanese students
Nine of the school’s students participated in the annual state Japanese Skit and Speech Contest. Jaymi Matsudaira took second place in the advanced, fourth-year level speech contest. Other students who participated were Ariel Goh, Maggie Symmes, Alex Pessemier, Julia Licholai, Matt Lee, Daniel Nakamura, David Park and Marianna Lane.
