Issaquah Eagles baseball team finishes second

Redmond scored twice in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday to defeat the Issaquah HIgh School baseball team 3-1 in a 4A KingCo Conference contest.
The two teams finished the regular season in a tie for first place in the Crest Division with 12-4 records. However, because Redmond swept the season series between the two teams, the Mustangs will enter the KingCo tournament as the Crest Division’s top seed. Issaquah will enter the tournament as Crest Division No. 2. The tournament starts Saturday at Woodinville High School.
Redmond took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning but Issaquah tied the score in the bottom of the sixth.
The Mustangs got strong pitching performance from Zach Abbruzza, who held the Eagles to three hits. Issaquah pitcher Shane Yarnell, who suffered his first loss of the season after registering seven victories, also pitched well.
In other action, it was Garfield 5, Skyline 4; Bothell 8, Roosevelt 0; Newport 15, Eastlake 1; and Woodinville 5, Ballard 3.
Garfield scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie and defeat Skyline. Anthony DeMatteo had two hits and Nate Litka drove in two runs for Skyline.
Boys soccer has three-way tie
The Skyline High School boys soccer team scored three first half goals and hung on for a 3-2 victory against host Woodinville on Tuesday in a 4A KingCo Conference contest.
With the victory, Skyline finished the regular season with a 7-3-1 league record and in a tie with Garfield and Bothell for first place.
Jake Bechtel, Travis Strawn and Giancarlo Santoro scored Skyline’s goals.
Issaquah finished just one point behind the leaders after the Eagles topped Redmond 1-0 in overtime. Michael Roberts, assisted by Michael Axelson, scored at the 87th minute for Issaquah. The Eagles finished league play with a 6-2-3 record.
Both Skyline and Issaquah advance to the league tournament that begins next week.
Liberty High School softball nips Mount Si
The Liberty High School fastpitch softball team scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday and edged Mount Si 4-3 in a 3A/2A KIngCo Conference thriller.
Alexis Court had two hits and drove in two runs for Librerty. Winning pitcher Denise Blohowiak held Mount Si to three hits.
