Redmond takes baseball title, but Skyline keeps hope alive

Redmond High School slammed three home runs Thursday as the Mustangs defeated Skyline High School 6-2 in the 4A KingCo Conference championship game at Woodinville High School.

The Mustangs advance to the 4A regionals as the KingCo No. 1 team. Skyline still has a chance at the regionals, too. The Spartans host Evergreen, of Vancouver, Saturday in a bi-district game. The winner of the contest advances to the regionals.

Redmond entered the tournament as the title favorite while Skyline was one of the lower seeded teams. The Spartans took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Redmond scored a run in the bottom of the second and went head in the third by scoring three runs. Michael Conforto smashed a two-run home run in the third for Redmond.

Issaquah lacrosse whips Curtis

The Issaquah High School boys lacrosse club whipped visiting Curtis 10-2 on Thursday in a Washington State League Division I contest.

Jake Fritz led Issaquah’s offense with four goals. Kevin Powers contributed three goals and Justin Pennington had two goals for Issaquah.
