Liberty High School’s Peter Stacy wins district javelin title

NEW — 11:25 a.m. May 20, 2010

Liberty High School’s Peter Stacy captured the boys javelin title Wednesday at the 3A Sea-King District Track and Field Championships at the Southwest Complex.

Stacy finished first with a throw of 179 feet, 5 inches.

Liberty’s Devin Bennett placed second in the boys triple jump and Eric Bice was third in the 1,600.

In the girls’ competition, Emily Pest-Dimmitt was fourth in the high jump.

Issaquah lacrosse tops Stadium

The Issaquah High School boys lacrosse club defeated Stadium, of Tacoma, 16-4 Wednesday in the first round of the Washington State League Division I playoffs.

Issaquah started slowly but finished strong, scoring seven goals in the final period.

Kevin Powers led the Issaquah attack with five goals. Ben Director and Matt O’Neil each had three goals.

In other tournament action, Skyline won its first-round game May 18 by walloping Tacoma 19-2. Connor Brandt had four goals to lead Skyline. Max Saffle and Jeremy Villeux each had three goals.

Issaquah plays King’s Way on Friday at Columbia River HIgh School in Vancouver in the second round. Skyline plays at Bainbridge on Friday.
