Issaquah School District and union officials have reached a tentative contract for teachers and educational assistants.

The tentative agreements were reached May 27 for educational assistants and Tuesday for teachers.

Few details are known about the agreements, because they have yet to be ratified by union members and the school board.

However, both unions’ members will meet before the end of the school year to review the contracts, a district press release stated. If the contracts are approved, they will go to Issaquah School Board members for approval.

District officials began the year knowing they had four contracts to negotiate before the beginning of the next school year — for teachers, educational assistants, secretaries and bus drivers. The contracts expire Aug. 31.

District officials and bus drivers reached a negotiated, three-year contract in early May. School board members approved the drivers’ contract May 12.

Secretaries’ representatives and district officials continue to meet for negotiations. Their next meetings are Thursday and June 23.
