Issaquah Triathlon organizers need volunteers to hand out packets to participants, man water stations, set up courses and handle other tasks before, during and after the Saturday event.

The triathlon kicks off Saturday morning at Lake Sammamish State Park.

Organizers need about 250 volunteers to help put on the event. The biggest need: volunteers to marshal the race and keep athletes safe and on track. Find a complete list of volunteer opportunities here.

Organizers expect more than 1,000 athletes are expected to compete in the 10th annual event.

The first race, the sprint triathlon, starts at 7 a.m. The sprint triathlon consists of a quarter-mile swim, a 15-mile bicycle ride and a three-mile run.

The sprint duathlon, added to the Issaquah Tri schedule last year, consists of a 15-mile bike ride and a three-mile run.

5K and 10K runs start at 8:30 a.m. The kids’ triathlon, for children aged 6-12, starts at 9:30 a.m.

I know you can’t control weather, but the lakes is freezing! I mean cold! Let’s move it to July 4th and really blow this thing out to some WARMER weather!

Thx anyways to the organizer, it’ll be fun regardless!
