More than 1,200 seniors receive diplomas this week

Congratulations to the 1,240 high school graduates of the class of 2010.

Each of the district’s four high schools — Issaquah, Liberty, Skyline and Tiger Mountain Community high schools — as well as the district’s community-based Transition Program for special-needs students will have commencement celebrations during the next week.

Here’s what you need to know about each, in the order they happen.

Transition Program

  • Four graduates
  • 7 p.m. June 10
  • Issaquah School District Administration Building, 565 N.W. Holly St.

Liberty High School

  • 285 graduates
  • 2 p.m. June 11
  • Safeco Field
  • Valedictorian: Ashley Turnidge
  • Senior Alexis Court and teacher Jann Longman will speak.
  • School board member Chad Magendanz will accept the class.

Skyline High School

  • 459 graduates
  • 5 p.m. June 11
  • Safeco Field
  • Valedictorians: Nicole Kwan and Kathleen Ulrich
  • Senior Steven Shuken and teacher Loren Krogstad will speak.
  • School board member Brian Deagle will accept the class.

Issaquah High School

  • 471 graduates
  • 8 p.m. June 11
  • Safeco Field
  • Valedictorians: Michael Migotsky and Hani Mahmoud
  • Senior Sarah Morsi and teacher Vale Crain Baxter will speak.
  • School board member Suzanne Weaver will accept the class.

Tiger Mountain Community High School

  • 33 graduates
  • 6 p.m. June 14
  • Tiger Mountain Community High School
  • Seniors Allie Wilke and Andrew Rohde will speak.
  • School board member Marnie Maraldo will accept the class.

The ceremonies are open to the public. Purchase tickets to any of the three comprehensive high school graduations in advance through the schools’ bookkeepers. Tickets will also be sold the day of commencement at Safeco Field.

The graduation for the district’s Transition Program is by invitation only, but the Tiger Mountain graduation is open to the public, though there is limited space.
