Issaquah Swim Team wins Apple Capital

The Issaquah Swim Team capped its spring by capturing another title at the recent Apple Capital Swimming Invitational in Wenatchee.

Issaquah, which has won the meet in the past, compiled 2,261.5 points to finish first. The Bellevue Club Swim Team was second with 1,754.5.

Four Issaquah Swim Team members captured high-point championships in their age groups. Danika Himes was first in the girls 8-and-under division with 41 points. Stephanie Young tied for first in the girls 9-10 division with 60 points. Brandon Leu won the 9-10 boys division with 70 points. Austin Melody took top honors in the boys 13-14 division with 82 points.

Several Issaquah swimmers had first places.

Himes was first in the 8-and-under 50 breaststroke.

Young had a big meet, capturing four first places. She won the 10-and-under girls 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley.

Kim Williams highlighted the girls 13-14 division for the Issaquah Swim Team by winning the 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle and 200 individual medley.

Stephanie Munoz, Makenna Briggs, Maria Volodkevich and Yui Umezawa also had first places in the 13-14 division. Munoz won the 1,500 freestyle, Briggs tied for first in the 50 butterfly, Volodkevich took the 200 breaststroke and Umezawa captured the 200 backstroke.Katie Kinnear, competing in the 15-and-over girls division, won the 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Kara Beauchamp was first in the 200 breaststroke and Jessie Dart captured the 400 individual medley.

In the boys competition, Melody placed first in the 13-14 400 individual medley, 200 breaststroke and 50 backstroke. Nick Klatt, racing in the same age group, won the 1,500 freestyle.

In the 9-10 division, Leu won the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Ivan Graham captured the 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly. Leu also competed in the 10-and-under division and won the 200 individual medley.

In the 11-12 division, Connor Broughton had first places in the 200 backstroke and the 100 backstroke.

Logan Briggs, competing in the 15-and-over division, won the 800 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley.
