Trail should be cleaned up and patrolled

There is a beautiful, tree-shaded walk along the east side of our community center all the way to where Second Avenue connects with Front Street South.

Beautiful, that is, except for all the trash and litter the high school kids who gather there leave behind. It’s a place where people walk their dogs and their kids in strollers — a little jewel of a place — but it is ruined with the hoards of smoking and littering kids.  We’ve even seen what looked like it might have been a drug deal going down in the trees in there.

I would hope to see this area cleaned up and patrolled. I realize our police force is more than busy already, but it seems such a shame to have this beautiful place look like a slum.

There is a beautiful trail system in our city. The trail from the community center to 2nd ave, is a great example of how a trail master plan could better serve the residents of Issaquah. I’d like to see maps and linked trails throughout the city. As a cyclist I am frustrated by the lack of recreational trails. I’d like to see the trail behind the High school paved and connected to the paved trail serving the highlands of Issaquah. improvements to trails will bring more users to the trails. The criminal element I believe, will be driven out by the influx of frequent trail users. This will only happen once the trails are connected, and links established between recreational trails and commuter paths.

    Thank You,

    Mark Lyon.
