Issaquah High School basketball player Domi Mendezona has signed to play at Northwest University, the university announced Thursday.

Mendezona, a 5-foot-6-inch point guard, signed a national letter of intent to play for the Eagles. She will be a freshman at the Kirkland campus this fall.

Mendezona helped lead the Eagles to the 4A state tournament this year, and played in the semifinal game. As the only senior on the Issaquah team, she was a KingCo All-Conference honorable mention for 2009-10, averaging seven points per game and 3.5 assists.

“Domi is a true point guard who looks to get her teammates involved and is willing to do whatever it takes to make the team better,” Northwest University head coach Lori Napier said in a news release. “She has excellent court vision and ball handling skills and comes from one of the best defensive high school basketball programs in the state. Her love of basketball and work ethic are outstanding and will help her transition seamlessly to the college game.”

Domi is the sister of a graduating senior at Northwest University, Jessica Wilkerson, a 2009-10 Cascade Conference Co-Player of the Year and Third Team NAIA All-American. Her older brother, Tyler Mendezona, plays for the men’s basketball team.
