Morton Daniel Wiener, of Sammamish, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at home. He was 79.
A cryptside service will be at 1 p.m. July 23, at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, N.Y.
Morton was born Dec. 4, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Irving and Hannah Wiener. He was raised in Brooklyn, where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Following high school, Morton furthered his education at New York University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951.
In 1954, Morton earned a second bachelor’s degree, this time in pharmacy, cum laude, from Long Island University. He worked for Bresniks Pharmacy in Brooklyn for more than 30 years. Morton finished his career working as a Rite Aid pharmacist, also in Brooklyn.
On Feb. 14, 1990, Morton married Beleria “Rusty” Smith in New York City. They settled in Brooklyn, where they enjoyed each other’s company for many years. In 2002, following Rusty’s passing, Morton moved to Providence Point in Issaquah to be near his cousin Alan Krebs and his wife Karla.
In his leisure time, Morton most of all enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. Morton was a devoted husband, cousin, friend and Yankee fan who possessed a wonderful sense of humor and great zeal for life.
He will be remembered for his deep affection for family, children, the occasional golf game and his 1965 Mustang. He is deeply missed.
In the last year of his life, Morton was wonderfully cared for by Elderly Options Adult Family Home, particularly John, Mariana and Stephanie, who treated him lovingly as if he were part of their family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Flintoft’s Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah, 392-6444.
Friends are invited to get directions, view photos and share memories in the family’s online guestbook at www.flintofts.com.
