Lucille Margaret Sanderson, of Issaquah, died Aug. 15, 2010 in Issaquah. She was 94.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 2 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front St. S., Issaquah. A reception will follow. A graveside service was Aug. 20 at the Kirkland City Cemetery.Lucille was born Jan. 26, 1916 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Nels and Anna Marie Jensen. She was married to Guy Christian Sanderson from Jan. 14, 1938, until he died Oct. 30, 2003.

Lucille was a very creative, active and hard-working homemaker while raising her four children. She canned vegetables from her and Guy’s large gardens. She especially liked to make floral arrangements from her flower gardens.

She sewed lookalike clothes for her three daughters and clothes for her son. She made dolls and stuffed animals for her grandchildren, and quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made stuffed bunnies and bears for so many people. She painted a large number of pictures, as well as pictures in needlepoint.

Lucille also was an active author, writing many poems and essays. She wrote the family history along with photos and made copies for the family.

Lucille was an active member of four Lutheran churches where she taught confirmation classes and was also the acolyte director. She led many bible studies in her home. She was the spiritual giant for the whole family and was always there with sound advice from the Bible when anyone was in need of spiritual guidance. In 1986, Lucille and Guy moved to Providence Point in Issaquah and became members of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Lucille is survived by her children David Sanderson, of Issaquah, Diane (Pete) Peterson, of Spokane, and Carol (Dave) McMurray, of Issaquah; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Flintoft’s Funeral Home and Crematory.
