The field to be the next Issaquah city administrator includes officials from Lake Forest Park, Yakima, Thurston County, San Juan County and Wyoming, Ohio.
The search to fill the No. 2 position at City Hall entered the final phase Monday, as Mayor Ava Frisinger released the names of the finalists.
The process had been kept confidential to shield the finalists from questions from their current employers about their job searches.
The list includes Lake Forest Park City Administrator David Cline, Yakima Assistant City Manager David Zabell, Thurston County Manager Donald Krupp, San Juan County Administrator Pete Rose and Robert Harrison, the city manager in Wyoming, Ohio, a Cincinnati suburb.
Residents can meet the finalists at a public reception from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tibbetts Creek Manor.
The following day, the finalists head into closed-door interviews with city department chiefs and a 10-person community panel appointed by the mayor. The process is scheduled to last from early morning until 6 p.m.
The city plans to take each finalist on a separate tour of Issaquah as part of the interview process.
Headhunter Greg Prothman and Frisinger cut a stack of 50 applications into a list of 27 qualified applicants, then 13 semifinalists and, finally, six finalists. The finalist pool shrank to five last week, after a finalist accepted a municipal job elsewhere.
The city last conducted a high-profile search in 2007 to hire a police chief. Prothman led the effort then.
Frisinger said she hopes to hire the administrator by next month. The next administrator stands to earn $124,500 to $158,916 — plus benefits.
