Group Health: Hospice volunteers are needed, with weekday availability in Seattle, East King and Snohomish counties, to stay with terminally ill patients in their homes while caregivers take needed breaks; visit patients in nursing homes and other facilities; and assist with errands, transportation and other practical tasks. Seattle Tilth Community Garden: Volunteers are needed from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 25 to renovate the garden on the west side of Pickering Barn, 1730 10th Ave. N.W. Weekly work party themes include planting, building soil, green roofs and more. There is also an opening for a garden steward intern, a weekly commitment working in the garden and taking on more of a leadership role (school credit is possible).
