Issaquah High School soccer blanks Roosevelt

Audrey Thomas scored a goal at the 48th minute Thursday as the Issaquah High School girls soccer team defeated visiting Roosevelt 1-0 in a 4A KingCo Conference game in Gary Moore Stadium.

Thomas was assisted on the goal by Rachel Wheeler. Goalkeeper Brooke Miller recorded the shutout.

The victory was the sixth straight for Issaquah, 6-1-0 overall and 2-0 in league action.

In other games, Eastlake scored four times in the second half to overcome Redmond 4-3; and it was Inglemoor 2, Garfield 1, and Woodinville 2, Ballard 1.

Patriots stay unbeaten in 3A

The Liberty High School girls soccer team scored twice in the second half to rally past visiting Lake Washington 2-1 Thursday in a 3A/2A KingCo Conference contest.

Lake Washington held a 1-0 lead at halftime. However, Mollie Cooke,on an unassisted goal, tied the score at the 53rd minute. Whitney Cain tallied the game-winning goal at the 70th minute.

The victory was the fourth straight for Liberty, 4-0 in conference play and 4-2 overall.

In other league games, it was Juanita 4, Mount Si 0; and Interlake 2, Sammamish 1.

Eagles stroke by Bothell

The Issaquah High School girls swimming team had too much depth for Bothell on Thursday as the Eagles won the 4A KingCo Conference meet 115-65.

Issaquah’s Stacy Maier, Kayla Flaten and Marit Borth each one an event and swam on two winning relays.

Maier captured the 200 freestyle. Flaten took the 100 butterfly and Borth won the 100 freestyle. All three swam on the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. Kelly Herman was the other member of the two relays.

Sarah Mirahsani, of Issaquah, won the 500 freestyle and swam on the Eagles’ winning 400 freestyle relay. Emma Wrightston, Kellie Langan and Michaela Eckel were other members of the relay.

Eastlake golfers top Skyline

Li Wang and RP McCoy each shot par 36s Thursday as they led the Eastlake High School boys golf team to a 194-212 victory against visiting Skyline in a 4A KingCo Conference match at the Sahalee Country Club.

Jack Quinton led Skyline with a 39.

Lyons is first at Kirkland Triathlon

Ethan Lyons, of Issaquah, continued his successful summer of triathlon racing when he won the Kirkland Triathlon on Sept. 17.

Lyons finished the sprint triathlon course in 1 hour, 3 minutes, 26 seconds. Stephen Bennett, of Issaquah, was 12th in 1:09:33.

Erin Heard, of Issaquah, was the women’s winner, finishing the race in 1:12:36.

In the duathlon, Mark Steen, of Sammamish, was second in 58 minutes.

Skyline grad earns honor

Former Skyline High School football player Jake Knecht, who now plays for Willamette University in Salem, Ore., recently was selected the Northwest Conference special teams Player of the Week.

Knecht earned the honor for averaging 30.5 yards on four kickoffs in the Sept. 11 season-opener against Hardin-Simmons, of Texas.
