Liberty soccer wins fifth consecutive game

The Liberty High School girls soccer team got its fifth straight 3A/2A KingCo Conference victory Tuesday when the Patriots defeated the host Juanita Rebels 2-0.
Liberty, which leads the league with a 5-0 mark, scored its goals in the second half. Whitney Cain, assisted by Kailiana Johnson, broke a scoreless tie with a goal at the 60th minute. Cassidy Nangle, assisted by Kimi Fry, scored eight minutes later.
Goalkeepers Macaire Ament and Jennifer Rucker recorded the shutout.
Issaquah, Skyline booters stay hot, too
The Issaquah and Skyline high school girls soccer teams continued their winning ways Tuesday by posting 4A KingCo Conference victories.
Issaquah defeated host Ballard 1-0. Dayna Talley, assisted by Laura Kasser, scored at the 36th minute. Goalkeeper Brooke Miller recorded the shutout.
The Eagles boosted their league-leading record to 3-0. It was the seventh straight victory for Issaquah, which is 7-1 overall.
Skyline blasted host Inglemoor 5-0. Michelle Bretl scored two goals for the Spartans. Maddie Christ, Madi Barney and Rachel Shim tallied the other goals for Skyline, 2-0 in league and 7-0 overall. Goalkeepers Tina Vargas and Sydney Martinez recorded the shutout. Skyline is yet to give up a goal this season.
Liberty netters earn dramatic win
The Liberty High School boys tennis team won the No. 1 doubles Tuesday and edged host Sammamish 4-3 in a dramatic 3A/4A KingCo Conference match.
Dylan Clark and Ben Pinsky prevailed in the No. 1 doubles, the final match, to give Liberty the victory. The match had three tie-breakers. Clark and Pinsky defeated Alvin Tran and Anthony Kao 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (8-6).
Sho Kato and Michael Payant had singles victories. Kato defeated Benny Tran 6-4, 6-2. Payant downed Kevin Hao 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
Liberty’s other victory came in No. 2 doubles. Brandon Yan and Ken Kato defeated Connor Chiu and Martin Girsch 6-4, 6-4.
Skyline golfers fall to Redmond
Skyline High School’s Ryan Mogg claimed medalist honors Tuesday but the Spartans lost to Redmond 189-204 in a 4A KingCo Conference boys golf match at the Plateau Club.
Mogg shot a par 36.
