Issaquah swimmers stroke past Ballard

NEW — 8 a.m. Oct. 18, 2010

Sophomore Kayla Flaten won two events and swam on a winning 200 medley relay Oct. 14 to help the Issaquah High School girls swimming team top Ballard 97-89 in a 4A KingCo Conference meet.

Flaten won the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 4.15 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:34.89. The 200 medley relay finished first in a state-qualifying time of 1:54.20. Joining Flaten on the relay were Stacy Maier, Kellie Langan and Marit Borth.

Maier finished first in the 100 freestyle in 56.65.

Issaquah diver Jamie Elderkin also placed first with 175.95 points.

Skyline takes over first in girls soccer standings

Maddie Christ scored a pair of unassisted goals Oct. 14 as she led the Skyline High School girls soccer team to a 3-0 victory against rival Eastlake in a 4A KingCo Conference contest at Skyline.

Anna Deweirdt also scored for Skyline, which is 7-0-0 in league play and 12-0 on the season. Skyline goalkeeper Tina Vargas recorded her 11th shutout of the season.

In other action, Issaquah dropped out of a tie for first place when the Eagles fought to a 0-0 tie with host Bothell. Goalkeeper Brooke Miller recorded the shutout for the Eagles. Issaquah’s record went to 6-1-1 in league play. The Eagles are 10-2-1 for the season.

In the 3A/2A KingCo Conference, Liberty blanked host Sammamish 4-0 to maintain its lead. The Patriots are 8-0-2 in league play.
