Issaquah Eagles edge Roosevelt in volleyball battle

The Issaquah High School volleyball team got one of its toughest battles of the season Monday when the Eagles edged visiting Roosevelt 3-2 in a 4A KingCo Conference match. Issaquah, 8-0 in league play and tied with Newport for the lead, won the tie-breaking game 15-10.
The match was hard fought from the start with Roosevelt winning the first game 32-30. Issaquah won the next two games 25-17 and 25-17. However, Roosevelt took the fourth game 25-19 to force the tiebreaker.
Issaquah had several outstanding efforts in the match. Rachel Roeder had 32 kills, 10 digs and four aces. Riley Sorenson had 60 assists, 15 digs and three aces. Sarah Hanna had 13 kills and Alexa Batiquin had 26 digs. Sam Rogers contributed six kills and five aces. Maddy Emerson added 10 digs and Kelsey Mollick si aces.
In other league action, Eastlake defeated Skyline 25-23, 25-19, 25-19. Madison Stoa had 21 assists and three aces and Jocelyn Reynolds had five kills and three aces for Skyline. Anna Gorman had seven kills and Kelly Logie had 20 assists for Eastlake. Both teams are 2-6 in league play.
In the 3A/2A KingCo Conference, Juanita defeated host Liberty 25-8, 25-19, 25-23.
