Skyline boys, Eastlake girls tops in KingCo cross country

The Skyline High School boys cross country team took first place by 20 points in the 4A KingCo Conference championship meet Oct. 21 at Lincoln Park in Seattle.

And the girls of Eastlake continued their dominance in the league, capturing their fifth straight KingCo girls title.

Skyline posted 52 points, beating out Garfield, which had 72 points. Senior speedster Kyle Branch led the way with a finish time of 15 minutes, 39 seconds. Sophomore teammate Keegan Symmes finished six seconds behind him to take second and junior Jay Bowlby tied for 10th with Garfield’s Chris Wozniak with a time of 16:12.

Isaac Robinson was Issaquah’s top placer, taking seventh in 16:05. Turney Wiley, of Issaquah, was ninth in 16:12.

The Eastlake girls team beat the Skyline girls, scoring 52 points. Skyline scored 77 points to come in second.

The Wolves placed two runners in the top 10 and three in the top 14.

Skyline freshman Jordan Branch took seventh in 19:06, while freshman Sam Krahling (19:11) and Haley Smith (19:16) took ninth and 10th, respectively. Nicole Migotsky was Issaquah’s top placer, finishing 21st.

The runners will compete again at the District 1 and 2 4A Championships Oct. 30 at South Whidbey High School in Langley.
