Eagles capture volleyball title

The Issaquah High School volleyball team captured the 4A KingCo Conference regular-season title outright Oct. 25 when the Eagles defeated host Newport 3-0.

Issaquah won the games 25-14, 25-17, 25-18. The Eagles concluded the regular season with a 10-0 league record. Newport finished second in the league standings at 8-2.

Sarah Hanna had 17 kills and Riley Sorenson had 35 assists for the Eagles. Maggie Reingold added 14 kills and 11 digs.

Issaquah won its opener in the KingCo/District Tournament Oct. 30. The Eagles defeated Eastlake 3-1. Issaquah won the first two games 25-19, 25-14, but Eastlake took the third game 27-25. The Eagles won the fourth game 25-13 to win the match.

Rachel Roeder had 24 kills, 13 digs and five aces to lead the Eagles. Hanna contributed 21 kills, Sorenson had 50 assists and four aces, and Alexa Batiquin had 13 digs.

Issaquah played Woodinville Nov. 2 in the second round.
