Issaquah businesses run by women vie for honors

Issaquah businesses run by women are finalists for Stevie Awards for Women in Business, an international competition honoring women executives, business owners and the companies they run.

Issaquah-based companies Artitudes Design and Career Woman are finalists for a total of five awards.

Artitudes Design is a woman-owned graphic design firm that specializes in executive and senior leadership communications for high tech, retail and nonprofit groups through customized presentations, marketing and branding solutions.

Its employees volunteer at elementary schools in the Northshore, Sultan, Highline, Snoqualmie school districts as part of its Artitudes in Action: Art Docent Campaign.

The Stevie award judges chose Artitudes Design as a finalist for two awards: Best Overall Company of the Year – Service Business – up to 100 employees, and Community Involvement Program of the Year, for its art docent program.

The other Issaquah company, Career Woman, is a consulting company dedicated to the advancement of women in business, helping women with marketing, strategic planning and talent development.

Career Woman is a finalist in three categories: Blog of the Year — Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations, for its Career Memos blog, Mentor of the Year — All Other Industries for its founder and president ,Lisa Quast, and the Women Helping Women Award — All Other Industries, also for Quast.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business began in 2004. Stevie is taken from the name Stephen, which is derived from the Greek word for “crowned.”

More than 1,200 nominations from 14 countries were submitted for the 2010 competition. The winners will be announced at a reception at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York City on Nov. 12.
