Issaquah Eagles volleyball team plays for state title

The Issaquah High School volleyball team lays Jackson at 6 p.m. for the state championship in the Class 4A state volleyball tournament at Kennewick’s Toyota Center.

Issaquah carried a 26-2 record into the semifinal match while Olympia is 31-3. In the other semifinal, Jackson, 27-3, mets defending state champion Mead, 24-2. Issaquah and Jackson play at 6 p.m. for the state title.

The Eagles defeated Curtis 3-0 in yesterday’s first round. Issaquah won the games 25-20, 25-23, 25-21. Seniors Rachel Roeder, Sarah Hanna, Alexia Batiquin and Riley Sorenson led the way for Issaquah. Roeder had 27 kills, three blocks and 16 digs. Hanna contributed 15 kills and Batiquin had 22 digs. Sorenson, Issaquah’s setter, had 47 assists.

In the quarterfinals, Issaquah defeated 4A KingCo Conference rival Woodinville 3-0. Issaquah won the first game 25-14, then rallied from a 17-7 deficit to win the second game 25-23, and clinched the match by winning the third game 25-17. Roeder had 16 kills, 14 digs and four aces. Hanna added 17 kills and

Batiquin had 11 digs. Sorenson had 40 assists and four aces. Kelsey Mollick contibuted three aces.
