City decides to keep current truck route in place

The city has decided the truck route through downtown Issaquah should stay put.

The truck route starts at the Interstate 90 interchange on East Sunset Way, and then runs along Newport Way Southwest to Front Street South and the southern city line.

Council Transportation Committee members discussed the proposal Nov. 3, but as the committee chairman — Councilman Joshua Schaer — noted at a City Council meeting last week, officials decided to keep the existing route in place.

The city considered a proposal to shift the truck route through Issaquah to state Route 900.

The idea came about after planners received feedback from residents concerned about truck noise, air pollution and the number of trucks along East Sunset Way.

In late summer, transportation planners considered a redo for the truck route through Issaquah. Planners collected public input and hosted a September open house to gather ideas from residents.

All it takes for someone to realize how clueless the city of Issaquah is, is to take a look at their truck route.

The truck route literally spans EVERY major road and goes through the entire city. Not only is the noise of trucks a nuisance for people who live and work here, but its unnecessary. Most cities in this country forbid large trucks from using the city as a detour to get to the freeway. Not Issaquah. The city seems to have no problem inconveniencing it’s denizens.

Shame on you Issaquah, you are clearly run by idiots.
