Eagles dominate volleyball team

The Issaquah High School volleyball team, which had its best season ever, swept the top individual honors and dominated the 4A KingCo Conference all-league team.

Issaquah senior Rachel Roeder, an outside hitter, was selected as the league’s most valuable player. Senior libero Alexa Batiquin was chosen as the league’s top defensive player. Todd Parsons, who led Issaquah to the league title and a second place finish at the state tournament, was picked as the league’s coach of the year. Issaquah was 10-0 in league competition.

The all-KingCo first team also included Issaquah outside hitter Sarah Hanna and setter Riley Sorenson. Rounding out the all-league team were outside hitter Ali Forde and setter Carmen Vasilatos, of Woodinville; outside hitter Gwen Gillies, of Newport; and outside hitter Sarah O’Connor, of Roosevelt.

Earning honorable mention were Samantha Rogers and Maddy Emerson of Issaquah, and Jocelyn Reynolds and Andrea Chon, of Skyline.

Aspen Winegar, of Liberty, was selected to the 3A/2A All-KingCo first team. Teammates Sarah Hewitt and Megan Tsutakawa received honorable mention.
