Issaquah School District students just received a long Thanksgiving weekend: Administrators decided Tuesday afternoon to cancel school Wednesday.

The district had also canceled school for Tuesday. Now, students do not return to classrooms until Monday due to the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday and Friday.

Administrators set aside five days in May and June in case students need to make up days due to inclement weather or other school closures: Friday, May 27, Thursday, June 16, Friday, June 17, Monday, June 20, and Tuesday, June 21.

The district plans to add any additional make-up days after the last June date.

The fall snowstorm prompted Issaquah School District administrators to release secondary school students one hour early Monday in order to allow more time for elementary school routes later in the day.

Traffic and poor road conditions caused students on 17 school buses to remain stuck at 5:30 p.m. — long after the routes usually conclude.

Earlier in the day Monday, district administrators had canceled afternoon kindergarten and all extracurricular activities.
