Plan for road closures near Issaquah Valley Elementary

By Staff

Issaquah Valley Elementary School employees and parents should prepare for road construction soon.

The city plans to expand and upgrade Northwest Holly Street in the months ahead to create a more efficient bus loop and add pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, more parking spaces and a drop-off loop linked to Newport Way Northwest.

The start date for the project has not been announced. Principal Diane Holt plans to notify parents before construction starts. The project should take about three months to complete.

Northwest Holly Street is to be reduced to a single lane or closed during construction, so parking is not allowed along the street during the project.

In a message to parents, Holt encouraged parents to carpool and students to ride a school bus in order to reduce traffic during construction.

The effort is part of Complete Streets, a city program to upgrade transportation corridors for drivers and pedestrians.

Contact Holt at holtd@issaquah.wednet.edu or 837-7201, or city Senior Engineer Rory Cameron roryc@ci.issaquah.wa.us or 837-3451 to learn more about the project.
