Thunderstorms toppled trees and downed power lines as a strong storm system rolled through the region late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

Issaquah residents reported flickering lights amid the thunder and lightning late Monday night. Some residents in the area lost power as as the storm system passed through the Puget Sound region.

Motorists reported a downed power line on Tiger Mountain Road south of Issaquah city limits.

Forecasters reported wind gusts in excess of 50 mph across the region early Tuesday morning. National Weather Service forecasters in Seattle said rain showers should continue through Tuesday.

The thunderstorms followed a wet weekend. Issaquah Creek crested Sunday after days of rain, but creeks and streams in the Issaquah area continue to run at full.

City crews spent Monday addressing storm water issues and localized flooding caused by the weekend rainfall.
