Eastside Fire & Rescue has been featured in a six-part TV series about leadership research and strategic thinking.
The program, “Fostering Leadership,” is a joint effort between the University of Washington Foster School of Business and UWTV. Viewers can watch the program at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesdays on UWTV or at the Foster School of Business website.
In the episode titled “Extreme Leadership,” Fire Marshall Bud Backer shares candid reflections of 25 years of leadership development in the fire service.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to share with the Foster School of Business my experiences in leadership development, and for the cooperation of our firefighters in the filming of this episode,” Backer said. “We see opportunities for continued learning as we exchange best practices with private industry and institutions of higher learning.”
The “Extreme Leadership” episode aired Dec. 1.
“We are very fortunate to have found Fire Marshal Backer as a leader and trainer of these concepts in our region,” Pamela McCoy, Foster School of Business executive director of marketing communications, said in a statement. “We are excited to tell the story of his leadership development and a model fire service.”
