Liberty High School girls hold off Hazen

The Liberty High School girls basketball team shot to an early lead and stayed in front as the Patriots defeated host Hazen 47-41 in a nonleague game Monday night.

The Patriots, 5-2 on the season, held a commanding 16-point lead after three quarters. Hazen made a late charge, outscoring Liberty 18-8 in the final quarter, but could not overcome the big deficit.

Sierra Carlson led Liberty with 14 points. Danni Sjolander added 12 points and Halie Ericksen had nine.

Hazen’s Airashay Rogers led all players with 28 points.

The girls game was the first of a doubleheader at Hazen. In the second game, the Hazen boys whipped Liberty 84-44. Hazen led 16-5 after the first quarter and sprinted to a 45-18 halftime advantage.

Jake Bainton topped Liberty with 11 points. Tynan Gilmore and Chandler Jenkins each had eight points for the Patriots.

De’corius Sampson led Hazen with 14 points.

Issaquah Eagles lose to Chandler

The Issaquah High School girls basketball team dropped its second game in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Chandler, Ariz., Monday losing to host Chandler 59-54. Sabrina Norton had 10 points for Issaquah.

    umm i had 12 points that game and i got no credit! chandler gets credit for 8? thats weak! put my name up there!
