Skyline boys basketball team routs Mariner

Bryan Cikatz poured in a game-high 19 points Wednesday as he held the Skyline High School boys basketball team past host Mariner 52-28 in a nonleague contest.
Skyline, 5-2 on the season, won its second straight contest. The Spartans took control of the game early, shooting to a 13-4 first-quarter lead. Skyline led 26-7 at halftime.
Will Parker and Kasen Williams each scored eight points for Skyline.
Liberty boys edge Highline
The Liberty High School boys basketball team had four players score in double figures Wednesday as the Patriots nipped host Highline 59-58 in a nonleague game.
Liberty, bouncing back from a 40-point loss to Hazen on Monday, trailed by nine points at halftime but caught fire in the third quarter. The Patriots outscored Highline 24-12 to surge into the lead.
Chandler Jenkins and Kylan Marlow each had 16 points to lead the Patriots. Tynan Gilmore and Zach Good each had 10 points.
The loss snapped a three-game losing streak for Liberty, which is 2-5 on the season.
Issaquah girls lose at Nike
The Issaquah High School girls basketball team held a five-point lead at half-time Wednesday but couldn’t hold off Dillard, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in the second half as the Eagles lost 53-45 in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Arizona.
Blaire Brady topped Issaquah with 16 points. Brooke Miller and Ngozi Monu each had eight points.
The loss dropped Issaquah’s season record to 4-3.
