Issaquah boys basketball team tops Kennedy Catholic

Nick Price scored a game-high 28 points Tuesday as he led the Issaquah High School boys basketball team to a 57-42 victory against host Kennedy Catholic in the Les Schwab Christmas Classic at Kennedy Catholic.

Steve Rael added 10 points and Derek Quan had 9 points for the Eagles, who are 4-4 on the season.

Kennedy Catholic led 14-12 after the first quarter but Issaquah lit up the Lancers in the second period for 25 points en route to a 37-23 halftime lead.

Liberty girls down Glacier Peak

Aspen Winegar tallied 17 points Tuesday as she led the Liberty High School girls basketball team to a 56-53 victory against Glacier Peak in the KingCo/WesCo Challenge tournament at Juanita High School.

Liberty, 6-2, fell behind by seven points in the first quarter but fought back to tie Glacier Peak 24-24 at halftime. The Patriots went ahead in the third quarter and held a 43-40 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Danni Sjolander contributed 12 points and Halie Ericksen 11 points for Liberty, which plays Shorewood at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Skyline girls take two

The Skyline High School girls basketball team picked up two easy victories Tuesday in the Cactus Tournament in Phoenix.

In the first game, Skyline downed Riverside, British Columbia, 56-30. Skyline shot to a 20-4 first quarter lead and cruised to the victory. Megan Weideman topped the Spartans with 13 points and Susie Tinker added 10 points.

In the second game, Skyline overwhelmed San Jan, Arizona, 52-12. Skyline outscored San Tan 18-0 in the first quarter. Allie Wyszynski topped the Spartans with 10 points. Alex Daugherty and Lacey Nicholson each had seven points.

Skyline is 3-0 in the tournament and 7-3 for the season.
