More than 70 Beaver Lake Middle School student actors are preparing to take the community on a journey to endless childhood.

The students have been working since January to perfect every aspect of the school’s annual theater production. This year, the students are performing the musical version of “Peter Pan.”

“It’s the largest one that we’ve ever done,” said theater teacher Carol Woodman. “It’s an amazing process to see where we started.”

The show is at 7 p.m. April 8-10, with an additional matinee performance at 2 p.m. April 10.

The elaborate and colorful costuming alone required a small army of parents to create, Woodman said.

Eighth-graders Jessie Spung, Riley Bancroft and Renee Chaffin said they can’t wait to get the show on the road. Spung plays Peter.

“For me, my biggest challenge was trying to act like a little boy,” Spung said. “You’ve got to think like a boy.” Read more
