The state Department of Transportation is swapping the traditional green color scheme for orange — at least until Saturday.

The change marks National Work Zone Awareness Week, a yearly observance meant to remind motorists to use caution near road-construction sites.

State transportation leaders also plans to post photos and tributes to roadway workers. Share ideas for work zone safety on the agency’s social media sites, including Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and Blogger. Or, check out the Go Orange for Work Zone Safety website, and submit photos supporting work zone safety.

Washington, on average, experiences almost 1,000 highway work zone injuries each year.

Would love to see an updated post like this for 2012. Also, here is a good website for buying safety products- http://www.viewbritesafetyproducts.com. We ask our employees to buy their own, so this is a great site to provide to employees. Quality is great, quick delivery, and inexpensive for workers.
