Skyline belts Issaquah in KingCo baseball

Clayton Huber gave the Skyline High School baseball team strong hitting and pitching Wednesday as he led the Spartans to a 10-0 rout of visiting Issaquah in a 4A KingCo Conference game.

Huber had three hits and drove in two runs. On the mound, he worked the first five innings and struck out five batters.

Jimmy Sinatro and Matt Sinatro each had two hits and drove in two runs for Skyline.

The Spartans were also helped by seven Issaquah errors.

Brandon Mahovlich had two hits for Issaquah.

Issaquah lacrosse loses thriller

The Issaquah High School boys lacrosse club, on its longest road trip of the season, lost a thriller to host Rutgers Prep, of New Jersey, 10-9 in a double overtime Wednesday. It was the first of three games for Issaquah against New Jersey teams.

Issaquah led 3-1 in the first period but Rutgers Prep rallied in the second period to lead 6-4 at halftime. The Eagles fought back in the third period to lead 8-7. However, Rutgers Prep scored twice in the fourth period to regain the lead. Issaquah’s Ben Director scored on a rebound shot with 12 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.

Director, Jake Fritz, Matt O’Neill and Kevin Powers each scored two goals for Issaquah, which plays at Lawrenceville, N.J., Thursday.
