Issaquah baseball team overcomes Garfield

NEW — 10:30 a.m. April 8, 2011

The Issaquah High School baseball team rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning Thursday to beat host Garfield 10-8 in a 4A KingCo Conference game.

Issaquah took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but Garfield rallied with four runs in the bottom of the second to take a brief lead. The Eagles regained the lead in the third inning with three runs and went ahead 6-4 in the top of the fourth inning. Garfield then fought back with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to go ahead 7-6.

Ben Rosellini and Jack Gellatly each had three hits for Issaquah. Ethan Kalin and Rosellini each drove in two runs. Jake Bakamus and Brandon Mahovlich each had two hits as the Eagles captured their third victory of the season.

In other action, Skyline lost to host Woodinville 6-0. Woodinville pitcher Marty Luckenbach tossed a four-hitter and struck out 10. Brandon Fischer had two hits for Skyline. Bothell, behind Brian McAfee, blanked Eastlake 10-0. McAfee, Bothell’s starting pitcher, had nine strikeouts. He also hit a home run for the Cougars.

In the 3A/2A KingCo Conference, Liberty lost to host Interlake 9-0. Interlake pitcher Carl Snaring tossed a one-hitter and had 11 strikeouts. Kamana Adriano drove in four runs for Interlake. Mount Si downed Bellevue 8-5. Max Brown had three hits and Reece Karalus drove in four runs for Mount Si.

Issaquah lacrosse loses to Lawrenceville

The touring Issaquah High School boys lacrosse team lost its second straight game in New Jersey on Thursday when the Eagles fell to host Lawrenceville 10-3.

Lawrenceville scored five goals in the first quarter. After the first half, Issaquah was more competitive against Lawrenceville.

Jake Fritz scored two of Issaquah’s goals. Michael Hatcher accounted for the other goal.
