There was some sparkling pitching in the 4A KingCo Conference on Wednesday, and one of the better efforts came from Skyline High School’s Matt Lunde.
Lunde hurled six scoreless innings, struck out nine and allowed two hits as Skyline defeated host Garfield 7-0.
Skyline broke open a tight game in the fifth inning by scoring five runs.
Nate Litka led Skyline with two hits and two runs batted in.
In other games, it was Bothell 1, Issaquah 0; Woodinville 4, Eastlake 0; Redmond 16, Roosevelt 0; and Ballard 4, Newport 3.
In the Bothell-Issaquah game, the Eagles got strong effort on the mound from Andrew Kemmerer, who allowed just four hits. However, one of those hits was a solo home run by Brian McAfee in the bottom of the second inning. McAfee was also Bothell’s starting pitcher. He held Issaquah to just one hit, walked just one and struck out 10.
Bothell, the KingCo Crown Division leader, snapped a four-game winning streak by Issaquah.
