Local shooters to participate in National Handgun Championships

Bob Loo, of Issaquah, and Albert Lim, of Sammamish, are among the 650 shooters from across the United States who will be competing in the STI USPSA National Handgun Championships from Saturday to Sept. 24 at the Desert Sportsman’s Rifle and Pistol Club in Las Vegas.
Competitors will face 20 courses of fire that are designed to test speed and accuracy using multiple targets.
Organizers expect competitors to put more than 250,000 rounds of ammunition downrange during the event.
Skyline netters top Overlake
The Skyline High School boys tennis team swept all four singles matches Monday en route to a 6-1 nonleague victory against Overlake.
Aman Manji, of Sammamish, won the No. 1 singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Tryn Torvund.
Liberty golfers fall to Mercer Island
The Liberty High School boys golf team played well Monday against Mercer Island, one of the perennial state powers, but could not pull off the upset as the Patriots lost 206-210 at Maplewood Golf Course.
Liberty’s Roland Deex was medalist with a one-over-par 37. Dylan Holt also shot a 40 for the Patriots.
