Weston Mui and Bryan Jung each shot 1-over-par 37s Monday to lead the Issaquah High School boys golf team to a 190-200 victory against visiting Newport at the Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course.
Mui, Jung and Newport’s Kevin Zhao tied for medalist honors.
Aaron Tham shot a 38, Taylor Swingle and Danny Baumer had 39s for Issaquah.
“We did not play pretty well, but we played well enough to win the match,” Issaquah coach Tom Bakamus said.
It was the second straight match where Mui earned a share of the medalist honors.
“Weston has been playing real solid for us,” Bakamus said. “Tham and Swingle have been pretty solid, too.”
The KingCo Conference 4A victory was the third straight for Issaquah, which opened the season with a loss to powerful Redmond.
Issaquah entered the season with 14 players on the roster. Bakamus notes that this team has no star players.
“But we have pretty good golfers,” he said.
Issaquah plays Woodinville, another one of the conference heavyweights, Wednesday at Echo Falls.
Woodinville, Redmond and Eastlake are regarded as the league’s top teams.
